How did I get here?

I grew up in India. My mom’s delicious (simple and traditional) recipes always fascinated me, and my love for cooking started really young. I had the privilege of watching my mom skillfully use food and home remedies to help soothe common colds, upset stomachs and even those everyday bumps and bruises. These experiences shaped my passion for nutrition. My desire to support people in improving their health led me to nutrition and dietetics.

After moving to Canada, I went to Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) in Toronto to pursue my dietetics education. I obtained my license to practice as a Registered Dietitian in 2011. I have since practiced in community health, and long-term care, and have been serving as a tele-dietitian at Healthlink BC since 2016. As well, I have a wealth of experience providing individual (one-to-one) nutrition counselling. I am a member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (previously College of Dietitians of BC) and Dietitians of Canada.

As a mother of two young children, I get the hectic schedule of modern life. When your schedule is packed, it’s tempting to choose quick and less healthy options, putting your well-being on the back burner. My aim is to help you enjoy both nutritious and convenient meals, even on your busiest days. I’m always trying out new recipes to keep my young kids well-nourished and meet their taste preferences. I understand that your needs are unique and there isn’t one-diet-that-fits-all.

My journey in dietetics and my own cultural roots, along with years of working closely with clients from various ethnic backgrounds in India and Canada, has equipped me to bring a personal touch to my approach. I value the importance of cultural traditions and understand that food holds a special place in our lives, often woven into our family bonds, celebrations, and cultural identities.
